Yukon

Yukon is a city in Canadian County, Oklahoma and is a part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. It is west of Oklahoma City, and North of I-40. The population according to the 2000 census is 21,043 and growing. Like many cities around Oklahoma City Yukon was formed during the land run of 1889 and was incorporated as a city in 1891. Median income is one of the strongest in the metro area, and the population under 18 is 27.7%. The school system a one high school system, but very little of Yukon schools extends beyond the city’s boundaries.

Famous citizens include the country star Garth Brooks, the band Canadian Ragweed, and the actor Dale Robertson. Yukon can access the Greater Oklahoma City area by I-40 which runs East to Oklahoma City, and the Kilpatrick turnpike which goes North and then East to NW Oklahoma City, Edmond, and then to either I-35 or straight to the turnpike that connects to Tulsa.
